Couple arrested for multiple hit-and-run wrecks

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

Police report a couple who reportedly stole a car may have committed four hit-and-run accidents before assaulting an officer.

Police said Amanda Howard is facing 20 charges including aggravated assault and DUI after the incident late Friday night.

Police responded to the intersection of Third Avenue North and Commerce Street on Friday night for a hit-and-run call.

When police arrived, they learned of another hit-and-run accident at Third Avenue North and Church Street by a vehicle with the same description.

According to arrest warrants, the suspect driver struck the responding Metro Police officer and a Good Samaritan who tried to help police.

According to police, the car took off toward Broadway and attempted to strike more officers trying to stop the car.

At Korean Veterans Boulevard, the car struck another car, causing it to go between a rock wall and telephone pole.

The suspects fled the scene on foot.

The male suspect became aggressive with police.

Police said the car was reported stolen in Pigeon Forge, TN.

Both suspects were taken to a local hospital with injuries. It is unknown what type injuries the hit-and-run victims received.
