AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Friday morning the men accused of brutally beating a couple along the Riverwalk in May entered "not guilty" pleas in an arraignment hearing.

Deputies say Kevin Richardson, 21, and Robey Moses, 22, are responsible for the attack of Wesley Spires and Ashley Solesbee. They are being charged with aggravated assault after deputies said they beat Spries and Solesbee with an aluminum bat or pipe.

Spires and Solesbee were both in court this morning to face their suspected assailants. Richardson's family was also in court. They maintain Richardson did not beat the couple, he was just with Moses that night.

Richardson and Moses are being held in the Richmond County jail.
