Neighborhood asking city for help after two pipes burst

Posted: Updated:
RICHMOND COUNTY (WFXG) -

Valarie Ross came to the newest mess in her neighborhood Friday.

"I drove home from work and saw the water and said we have another breakage."

A broken pipe was spewing water everywhere into her Marion Homes neighborhood.

Another had burst that same day right down the street on DuPont and Courtland. Resident Roman Gilpen says it's more than disruptive. It's dangerous.

"When the water doesn't get cut off, everybody has to use one side of the ride, which makes it very difficult coming in and out. Sometimes people can't get in here because the water is too deep."

Ross said, "We have a lot of people who have food services and they're not able to get those services delivered to their home because of the problems."

Ross says she's talked to the city. She says them being on board with fixing the issue is not the problem.

"I can honestly say I feel they are working with us, but it's a funding issue."

Still, she's hopeful they'll make progress with a neighborhood meeting set for August 27th.

"I'm going to update them on the plans as far the infrastructure issues we've been having."
