Local high school student and McDonald’s employee wins $2,500 collegiate scholarship

NORTH AUGUSTA, SC (WFXG) -

North Augusta High School graduate Corey Green, a McDonald's restaurant employee at the McDonald's located at 1831 Georgia Avenue, North Augusta, SC, was recently awarded a $2,500 McDonald's National Employee Scholarship Award. Green is among several McDonald's restaurant employees nationwide selected to receive this honor for their outstanding employee contributions, scholastic achievements and community involvement.

"Wow!!! Words cannot even express the gratitude I have for the scholarship committee believing in me and bestowing me with the great honor of McDonald's Ambassador yet again. I can truly say that joining the McDonald's family some time ago was the best decision I have ever made because they uphold the aphorism of, Family takes care of family! McDonald's continues to provide me with opportunities to learn and grow, said Green. "This restaurant offers flexible hours, which allow me to work my schedule around my academic and other responsibilities. The experience will serve me in my college classes and beyond."

Green, who joined the McDonald's restaurant team in July 2012, currently attends USC Columbia in Columbia, SC where he is a Sophomore majoring in Public Health and is pursuing a career in Physical Therapy. Christine Crawford, Owner Operator of McDonald's in the CSRA recommended Green to receive this scholarship.

"Corey exemplifies the qualities of a true leader," said Christine Crawford, Owner Operator. "He has done an outstanding job both in the restaurant and in school, using lessons from both to reach his goals."

In the CSRA, McDonald's owners and leaders contributed more than $75,000 over the past few years to educational programs throughout Augusta & North Augusta, SC. In addition to McDonald's McScholar scholarship program, our charity of choice, Ronald McDonald House Charities, offer a number of scholarship opportunities for customers and employees alike. For more information on these opportunities, visit www.mcdonalds.com/careers and www.rmhc.org.
