Judge will allow evidence from prior case to be used

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

Willie Jones appeared in Richmond County court today. He is charged with cruelty to children in the death of Tiesha Phillips, 4 year old daughter. Investigators say Jones beat the child for not knowing her ABC's.

Back in 2008, Jones was charged with aggravated assault and terrorist threats. Prosecutors want those charges to be included in this case and Superior Court judge Daniel Craig approved it. It is unclear whether Jones case will go before a jury.
