Shooting suspect arrested and booked in Richmond County

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

UPDATE:

James Clifton Tate Jr. was booked and processed into the Richmond County Jail Thursday. Tate was wanted for shooting Bertha Lopez on Wednesday at Pinnacle Place apartments.
Tate is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm, during the commission of a crime.
 
We need to clarify, the Richmond County Sheriff's Office initially told us and other media stations that James Donnell Tate was wanted for this shooting. They have since retracted that. We are now told James Donnell Tate had nothing to do with this crime.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A man is on the run after allegedly shooting a woman at the Pinnacle Place Apartments.

Investigators said they responded around 5:30pm to 1600 Caldwell Drive and discovered Bertha Lopez, 35, suffering from a gunshot wound.

Lopez was transported to Georgia Regents Medical Center for treatment.

Investigators are searching for James Tate in reference to the shooting.
