Roads Opening Back Up After Flooding, Officials Urge Caution

RICHMOND COUNTY (WFXG) -

She's spending Saturday stressing river safety to the CSRA.

But Disaster Preparedness Coordinator Mie Lucas says too much rain isn't the problem in the area, at least not this week.

"We're not concerned about the river level. It's more about what is in the river."

Down trees and debris are on her mind now, after weeks of rain and flooding have finally let up.

Lucas said, "We want citizens to be safe on the river. The water's still moving pretty quickly and trees that have fallen they are still floating."

A few roads closed, though, are opening back up.

Marina road is open, including the lower parking area.

The lower walking paths on the Riverwalk are now open.

Boat ramps and boating access points in Richmond County, except for Baurle Boat Ramp and 10th street, are back open.

Lock and Dam Road, Mims Road, the 10th street access to the RIverwalk and the boat ramp are still closed.
