A rest stop along Interstate 17 near Camp Verde will be closed while crews renovate the water system.
The Arizona Department of Transportation has closed the McGuireville rest area on both sides of interstate for 45 days. Crews will be upgrading the restrooms, pump house and sewer lines, and drilling a new well.
The project began in early June but hadn't required a long-term closure.
Transportation officials are encouraging motorists to use other facilities in Flagstaff or the Sunset Point rest area about 50 miles south of the McGuireville rest area.
