CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

A truck driver was sentenced on Monday in a crash that killed a UC student in March of 2011.

Paul Lallier will spend six months in jail, have his driver's license suspended for five years and have three years on probation.

Lallier was employed as a commercial truck driver for the Burkett Trucking Company in Hamilton and traveling on I-75 in March of 2011 in a triple axle semi-truck. One of drop axles on the trailer dropped and a wheel on the dump trailer fell off, rolling across several lanes of traffic. The wheel struck the concrete median and crashed into the windshield of a car.

The impact killed the driver of the car, Dylan Morrison, 22, a student at UC.

Lallier briefly stopped after the accident and then drove back to the trucking company, where mechanics began to repair and replace the missing wheel. The wheel fell off because it had not been bolted down properly.

Lallier admitted to one count of vehicular homicide and one count of obstructing justice, both misdemeanors.
