PHOENIX (CBS5) -

A Campe Verde man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for a 2012 brutal attack on the Yavapai Apache Indian Reservation.

The District of Arizona U.S. Attorney's Office said U.S. District Judge James A. Teilborg sentenced Rosalio Perez Gutierrez Jr., 26, in court on Wednesday.

Gutierrez pleaded guilty on May 6 to the assault.

Authorities said on March 26, 2012, Gutierrez got angry during a domestic dispute and chased down another man walking down the street. Police said Gutierrez wrestled him to the ground, pulled out a knife, and stabbed the victim multiple times in the head and arms.

The victim had serious and life-threatening injuries.

The FBI and the Yavapai Apache Police Department investigated the case.
