Heavy rain floods amphitheater

James Redd is a photographer in Aiken. He said heard about the Jeesye Norman Amphitheater being inundated with water.

"All of my friends have been posting about the river doing it's crazy, swollen thing," Redd said. "So I wanted to get out here and take some photos."

Redd said he didn't just find the sight cool but a little shocking.

"I was surprised it did overflow like this. I never expected that would happen. It's crazy," said Redd.

Quite a few people described the view right before their eyes as crazy. Dozens came out, braving the rain, with cameras and looks of astonishment.

"I was amazed because I've lived here for 30 years and I've never seen this much water," said Charles Jones. "I've come down here many times and I've never seen this much water. So it's been really interesting."

Some were even more daring by actually climbing down to get close to the flooding and there were a few people who were kayaking.

While this Augusta attraction seem to be the talk of the town, there are mixed reactions about the constant rain we've been receiving.

"I hope the rain kind of ceases some," said Cody Halling, who lives in Aiken but came to see the flooding.

"I love it because I love pretty green grass," Jones said.

"I do like rain. It's been a lot. So I've been waiting for a sunny day, It's kind of hard to walk around with a camera, when it's wet all the time," said Redd.
