The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner has identified the teenage boy who drowned in Lake Erie on Tuesday.

Gregory Adams, 15, was swimming with a friend at Perkins Beach at upper Edgewater Park in Cleveland.

Emergency crews were called to the scene just before 3 p.m. The teens were holding onto a log and got carried out 7 1/2 feet.

"They decided they were in too deep made an attempt to swim back to shore. One didn't make it back. One was struggling and went under," says Chief David McNeilly with the Cleveland Fire Department.

Divers found Adams' body 20 feet out about an hour after they got the call. Rescuers tell 19 Action News the water dropped off considerably.
