Homeowner shoots armed suspect in east side home invasion

CLEVELAND, OH (WOIO) -

An armed home invasion suspect shot by a homeowner on Cleveland's east side Tuesday morning.

Police were called to a home on Pawnee Avenue off of East 185th Street just after 9 a.m.

19 Action News has learned a woman was leaving with her two children when one child noticed the armed suspects and said, "Mommy, he has a gun."

The armed suspects demanded the woman hand over her purse and cell phone.

The woman's fiance, who was inside the home, saw the armed suspects with his family, pulled out his own gun and opened fire through the window.

"I see a man in a grey hoodie, dickies and a white little mask covering half his face waving a pistol.  At your loved ones," said fiance Johnny Bridges.

One of the suspects was shot, and was taken to Euclid Hospital for treatment. The other suspect fled toward Cindy Bishop's car.

"We just heard some gunshots and guy came running down the street.  Ran toward us and jumped in my car we were just freaked out," said Bishop.

Her car is still carrying splotches of blood left from the man's wounds next he ran to Judy Thompson's car.

"He knocked on my window and he said ma'am can you please help me I've been shot and I said go sit over there on the lawn," said Thompson.

He did. That's where Euclid Police arrested him.

An investigation is underway.Charges are likes to be aggravated robbery.
