HEPHZIBAH, GA (WFXG) -

A road in Hephzibah has closed after being washed out.

A major sinkhole formed on Mims Road from Old Mims Road to Greystone Drive, which will remain closed until repairs have been made.

The road could be closed for 2 to 3 weeks.

Michael Smith lives in a neighborhood nearby.

"I noticed that coming home from work," Smith said about the sinkhole. "I was coming down this road but because the road said detour, I turned around. I parked up there, to see what's going on down here and come to find out, it's a mess."

Drivers can use Peach Orchard Road, Louisa Road, Windsor Spring Road, Brothersville Road or Hephzibah-McBean Road as detours.
