BATON ROUGE, LA (WAFB) -

A woman and her husband suspected of running a prostitution ring out of their home are behind bars.

Kaelice and Charles "Randy" Smith, both of Baton Rouge, were arrested on charges related to prostitution, drug possession and improper supervision of children.

According to reports, the couple's family members and neighbors alerted police to a home on Colonel Allen Court in the Shiloh neighborhood with some questionable activity. When undercover agents started digging, they started with a woman's ad on Backpage.com. It is a website that opens the door to another world.

For officers with the Baton Rouge Police Department, one particular ad from July 9 caught their eye.

"Hello guys, I am Megan and ready to melt your worries away," the ad read.

A click on the ad reveals pictures with messages promising a massage resulting in total relaxation and enjoyment of every moment together. Police said Kaelice Smith is the woman behind the post. They added she and her husband were taken into custody thanks to an undercover detective.

"We sent an undercover officer in and met with the suspects," said Cpl. Tommy Stubbs with BRPD. "They negotiated a price for sexual favors."

According to the police report, when the detective showed up at the front door, Kaelice Smith said "she would provide oral sex for the undercover officer for the amount of $100." Police said she was then arrested.

"There were two children present. They were located in the back bedroom of the house, ages of seven and 12," Stubbs added.

Her husband faces the same charges because the police report reads he "was aware that she was prostituting from their residence and will normally take the kids for a ride when her dates arrive." Plus, detectives said when they arrived the husband was out paying bills with the money his wife made from her previous client.

"We first noticed it in January," said a neighbor. "She told some neighbors she was tutoring English."

The neighbor, who did not want to be identified, said it was realized about three months ago that was not the case when numerous cars, some high-end, were arriving at the home for 30 to 60 minutes at a time. The neighbor added the visitors were all men.

"We just didn't buy that story. Why would they need tutoring in English?" asked the neighbor.

Police said they were customers and their arrivals were around the same times she allegedly was advertising online, from 7 a.m. until 11 p.m. Investigators said it's why the children's sleep pattern was reversed.

"We believe that she was making the children stay up late at night, so they sleep during the day while they performed their massages," Stubbs explained.

"You could come in at 9 p.m. or 10 p.m. and the boy would be sitting on the curb," added the neighbor.

Concerned residents reportedly called the Department of Child and Family Services for the children, but a department spokesperson said "there is no prior history with this family for substantiated abuse or neglect."

Currently, the children are with their grandparents and DCF confirms it is investigating the matter.
