JASPER, AL (WBRC) -

UPDATE: Jasper police are now saying they have persons of interest in connection to the bomb threats. No other details have been released.

ORIGINAL STORY: Two babies were born in the parking lot of Walker Baptist Medical Center while it was being evacuated due to a bomb threat, according to Jasper police.

The hospital was given the all-clear just before noon on Friday and patients and staff returned to the building.

Authorities said multiple bomb threats were called in around 8:30 a.m. One of the threats was for the hospital, which was completely evacuated in about 15 minutes. The threat was not targeted to a specific area of the hospital, so the entire hospital had to be cleared.

A total of 76 patients were evacuated from the hospital with many of them going across the street to an eye center. The most critical patients were taken to the surgery center nearby, hospital spokesperson Renae McKinney said.

In the midst of the evacuation, a woman gave birth in the hospital parking lot, McKinney told Fox 6 News.

McKinney said the mom and baby are both doing great and were transported across the street.

"Nothing stops labor and delivery!" she said.

Around 12:40 p.m., Jasper police tweeted "Two babies were born in the hospital parking lot during evacuation."

One of the babies was born to Tessa Kilgore and La'Darrick Babbs.

Kilgore spoke with Fox 6 and said although the experience was "overwhelming," she and the baby are doing fine.

Kilgore arrived to the hospital in labor around 1:30 a.m. Friday. She had just been told she was going into active labor and to start pushing when the evacuation was ordered.

The 21-year-old mother gave birth beneath an oak tree in the hospital's parking lot. She was surrounded by two nurses, her doctor, the baby's father, her mother and cousin. The group held up blankets for privacy and kept others away from the area.

After about 15 to 20 minutes of active labor in the parking lot, Kilgore gave birth to a healthy, five pound, eight ounces, 18 inch long baby girl. Kilgore says they've named her Kylie Babbs.

Fox 6 has not yet confirmed any other information about the second baby born in the parking lot.

Jasper fire and police departments responded to the scene. A bomb squad swept the entire hospital, which has been cleared for re-entry. Officials did not report finding any threats inside.

Police do have some information about the possible suspect who called in the threat but say they can't release it at this time.

"We do have an investigative team that is working on the source of this threat. We have contacted ATF and other federal agencies to assist," Jasper Police Chief Connie Rowe said.

Another bomb threat mentioned Highway 69. Alabama State Troopers are doing a complete sweep of the highway from the Cullman County line to the Tuscaloosa County line. Troopers may close parts of the road as they investigate.
