Metro settles lawsuit over violent attack in police holding cell

NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -

The Metro Council agreed Tuesday to settle a lawsuit brought by a man who was brutally beaten inside the Davidson County Jail.

In April 2010, Curtis Dressman was visiting Nashville for a concert, when he was arrested for public intoxication.

He was placed in a holding cell with another inmate, Jamie Lopez, who was also arrested for public intoxication.

According to the lawsuit, Lopez beat Dressman while in the holding cell so badly he sustained brain damage, and his face was disfigured.

Council members approved a resolution that settles the case for $530,000.
