Woman robbed outside Sylvania Twp Walmart

SYLVANIA TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Sylvania Township Police are searching for a man who robbed a woman in broad daylight right outside of Walmart.

The police department received the call shortly after 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. When they arrived at the Walmart on Holland Sylvania and Central Avenue, they discovered a woman had been assaulted and robbed.

Police Chief Robert Boehme says a man tried to steal the woman's purse and cell phone. The woman was taken to the hospital but she is okay, although the thief got her cell phone.

Police say the suspect was driving a gray Crown Victoria with tinted windows.

"I don't want people to be fearful, because we don't believe this was just a random act," the chief said. "We're still putting things together to see if there were some previous ties."

If you see the older model, gray Crown Victoria, you're asked to call the Sylvania Township Police Department at 419-720-3002.
