Missing person case in Manchester gone cold

MANCHESTER, TN (WSMV) -

Things have taken a frustrating turn in the case of a missing man in Coffee County.

Paul Massicotte, 33, of Manchester, allegedly went into the woods this time two years ago after a fight with his girlfriend and hasn't been seen since. Now family members have been told by police the case has gone cold.

"It's been very difficult; I use to talk to my son every week," his father, Leo Massicotte, said.

As time continues to pass by, it's hard for family members to visit the area where he allegedly went missing, an area they have helped to search many times.

"I hate coming over here," his mother, Vickie Drawdy, said.

It's even harder for her to hold onto hope.

"I don't have hope he's still alive, no," Drawdy said.

That's not so for the man's father.

"I still have hope that he could be out there somewhere, and until they prove to me that he's dead, I have to hold on to that hope," Leo Massicotte said.

It will be two years tomorrow when he went missing.

"It's been horrible; it's been heartbreaking," the mother said. "It feels like my heart and soul have been ripped out; it's been a nightmare."

Paul Massicotte's family is making a plea to anyone who knows what happened to him.

"There are people from Tullahoma to Manchester to the Mountain that knows what happened to Paul," Drawdy said.

The family said there are so many stories being told, they're not sure what to believe.

"That he was beaten beyond recognition, and that he was then put in a bathtub and acid poured over him, shot in the head, put in a wood chipper, burned and fed to a hog farm in Grundy County," Drawdy said.

The father said this missing person's case is not getting the same attention as some other notable ones.

"They way they handle missing men is so much different than women and children," Leo Massicotte said. "It's like men don't really matter."

Manchester police said the case has gone cold, and all the tips and leads they've gotten so far have turned up nothing. As one detective put it, it appears Paul Massicotte 'just fell off the face of the earth.'

The family is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to the missing man's whereabouts. Manchester police is also offering a small reward.
