W2 Fire near Nogales almost contained

NOGALES, AZ (CBS5) -

Monsoon rains are providing some relief for firefighters battling the W2 Fire on the Coronado National Forest.

The wildfire has scorched about 530 acres along the international border 9 miles east of Nogales.

The fire is now 95 percent contained.

At the height of activity, 160 firefighters were assigned to the fire. Resources have been reduced to an engine and assigned operators, who are patrolling and mopping up the fire perimeter.

Little smoke was being detected from the fire Tuesday.

Full containment is anticipated soon although the fire's Mexico side is still being monitored closely.
