MESA, AZ (CBS5) -

Mesa firefighters were able to quickly knock down a fire at an apartment complex early Tuesday morning.

The fire broke out about 4:30 a.m. at a fourplex that contained some vacant units, said Mesa Fire Capt. Forrest Smith.

He said the fire appeared to have started on the outside of the building and then extended to the interior of the second floor.

Smith said it took crews from Mesa and Tempe less than 15 minutes to stop the fire.

He said there were no injuries.

The cause of the fire had not been determined, and Smith said he didn't know if any residents were displaced.
