Child dies, mother and brother hurt in Williamson Co. crash

FRANKLIN, TN (WSMV) -

A young boy has died, and his mother and brother were injured when their vehicle was struck by another car on Old Hillsboro Road near Hidden River Lane in Williamson County Friday afternoon.

According to the Tennessee Highway Patrol, a pickup truck driven by 26-year-old James Richard, of Franklin, was traveling southbound on Old Hillsboro Road. The pickup truck veered off the road, overcorrected and traveled back onto the road to strike the family's vehicle, which was traveling north, in the side.

The family's vehicle traveled off the road and overturned.

Abram Flores, 6, was pronounced dead, while his mother, 27-year-old Maria Zaragoza, and brother, 5-year-old Noe Flores, were transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center with injuries.

Richard was not injured.

THP investigators said safety restraints may have made a difference and charges are pending at this time.
