Local doctor charges patients flat rate for visits

Parts of the Affordable Health Care act has trickled in since passing in 2010 but major changes including mandatory health insurance for all will take effect Jan. 1.

For people who worry about possibly having to wait weeks to see a doctor, a Columbia County office say it has a solution.

"It's already bad. Our physicians are already overwhelmed and over populated and facilities are under staffed and come January it's going to be explosive," said Jessica Chapman, office manager for Perfect Health 24/7.

Perfect Health 24/7 costs a flat-fee per month.

"There's no waiting in waiting rooms, there's no high co-pays, there's no high deductibles," Chapman said. "There's a low monthly fee every month and you have a physician, in your pocket, available to you, personally 24 hours a day, 7 days a week."

Chapman said the Affordable Health Care act is the motivation behind this new facility.

The new business venture comes from Doctor Troy Coon a full time physician at Doctors Hospital in the emergency department.

At Perfect Health, patients can see a physician as many times he or she wants.

Modern technology allows Doctor Coon and other staff members to treat patients over the phone or web.

"They can call our physician directly, we can handle email to the physician directly, text messaging, video conferencing. Our goal is to have a physician available to them around the clock," Champan said.

Perfect Health 24/7 says it focuses on three areas: weight loss support, men's health and all urgent care needs.
