Man dies after falling from cherry picker

One man is dead after falling from a cherry picker on Monday in Aiken.

Aiken County Coroner Tim Carlton said Joseph Lord, 46, suffered internal bleeding, and died during surgery from cardiac arrest.

Lord was trimming a tree at a home in Aiken. The tree was struck by lightning. While cutting a branch, the tree limb fell on Lord and the bucket. Lord was knocked out and fell 35-50 feet. He was rushed to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

Lord's coworkers are now mourning their loss.

"Joe would help you do anything that needed to be done," said Doug Ennis, owner of Ennis Tree Service where Lord worked. "He more or less was my friend. He was just one of them good-hearted people that worked and paid his bills, and he's going to be missed.

Lord worked for Ennis Tree Service for nearly 10 years.
