CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -
Judge Robert Ruehlman has accepted a guilty plea in a 2011 vehicular homicide case.
Paul Lallier, 64, admitted to one count of vehicular homicide and one county of obstructing justice, both misdemeanors, in the death Dylan Morrison, 22, of West Chester.
Lallier faces up to 12 months in prison. Ruehlman delayed sentencing on Tuesday, saying he needed more time to decide.
Lallier was employed as a commercial truck driver for the Burkett Trucking Company in Hamilton and traveling on I-75 in March of 2011 in a triple axle semi-truck. One of drop axles on the trailer dropped and a wheel on the dump trailer fell off, rolling across several lanes of traffic. The wheel struck the concrete median and crashed into Morrison's windshield.
Morrison was pronounced dead at the scene. He was a student at UC.
Lallier briefly stopped after the accident and then drove back to the trucking company, where mechanics began to repair and replace the missing wheel. The wheel fell off because it had not been bolted down properly.
