WALTON, KY (FOX19) -

A Williamstown, Ky. man has died after a tire smashed through his windshield on June 16, 2013.

Michael Ramey, 34, died at the hospital on June 23. The accident occurred on northbound I-75 in Walton.

Authorities say that 41-year-old Sandra Slater was driving her pickup truck southbound on I-75 at mile marker 172.5 when the incident occurred. Slater's left-front wheel came off of her truck and bounced over the dividing wall.

Slater's tire struck a northbound Chevrolet Silverado on the hood and the windshield. Ramey, the driver, was flown to University of Cincinnati Medical Center via Air Care.

The passenger of the Silverado, 33-year-old Alesha Monk, was able to bring the truck to a safe stop after the collision. Monk sustained minor injuries but was declined treatment.
