Montgomery to Host 50th World Livestock Auctioneer Championship

During Livestock Marketing Association's Annual Conference June 12-16

For 50 years some of the fastest talking livestock auctioneers in the world have faced off annually to find out who can get the highest prices for livestock through their unique gum-flapping abilities. On June 15, 2013 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in Montgomery, Alabama, 31 competitors from around the country will participate in the World Livestock Auctioneer Championship held at Montgomery Stock Yards.  The event is part of the Annual Conference of the Livestock Marketing Association which is being held at the Renaissance Montgomery Hotel June 12 – 16, 2013.

RFD-TV, a satellite and cable television channel devoted to rural issues, concerns, and interests will broadcast the 50th World Livestock Auctioneer Championship on LIVE from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Over 800 members of the livestock industry are expected to come to Montgomery for this conference with an estimated economic impact of a quarter of a million dollars as a result of the lodging, meals and other spending that attendees will do while in Montgomery.

Montgomery Chamber of Commerce Convention & Visitor Bureau (CVB) and the Montgomery Stock Yards worked together to secure this event.

"Unique conventions and meetings such as this show how Montgomery appeals to a wide variety of groups due to the excellent hotel and meeting spaces as well as specialty venues such as the Montgomery Stock Yards that Montgomery has. We're proud to welcome the Livestock Marketing Association this June," says CVB Vice President Dawn Hathcock.

Spectators are encouraged to attend the competition which will be free of charge. The Montgomery Stock Yards is located at 4500 Mobile Highway, Montgomery, Alabama. For more information on the conference or competition contact the Livestock Marketing Association at (816) 891-0502.
