Church congregation coping after triple homicide

AUGUSTA, GA (WFXG) -

It was the first Sunday a congregation has come together since the tragic deaths of Roosevelt, Edna, and Russell Jones who were lifelong members at Augusta Deliverance Evangelistic Church.

"We are missing three very specials individuals, said Asst. Minister Lori Myles.  "I know your flesh may tingle but I want you to know that there's a Holy Ghost party going on."

The service was filled with many different emotions. There were plenty of tears from family and friends but there was also rejoicing and singing.

Many members were wearing pink ribbons in their memory and during the church offering, a separate offering was collected for the Jones family.

The message the pastor wanted to convey during the service was for the congregation to hold onto hope and have forgiveness.

"Well we want this church family and community to know that there's strength, there's hope, there's encouragement and we've got to go on," said Pastor Kerwin Myles. "We've got to move forward in their behalf and in their memories."

Myles even shared a message on behalf of the Jones family.

The family is truly thankful of the prayers of everyone; they are truly holding us up and strengthening us.
