Suspect wanted for downtown Augusta shooting

UPDATE:

DeShawn Demetrius Lowe has been identified as the suspect in the 2nd Avenue shooting from Thursday morning. Richmond County Sheriff's deputies responded to 2031 2nd Avenue after shots were fired.

Matthew Leverett Wilson was shot at least once in the chest.  Wilson was transported to GRU and is listed in serious but stable condition.  Investigators say Wilson got into an argument with the suspect, DeShawn Demetrius Lowe, who shot Wilson.

Lowe is wanted for aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. 

Anyone with information on Lowe's whereabouts is asked to contact the Richmond County Sheriff's Office at 706 821-1080.

Richmond County deputies are on the scene on 2nd Avenue. WFXG is told a shooting happened around 9:15 Thursday morning.

There are not many details being released at this time, but we are continuing to follow the investigation. We will release more information to you as soon as we get it from officials.
