CRC needs more lifeguards before pools can open

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

In order to open all pools for the summer, CRC needs to hire additional lifeguards.

CRC hires more than 225 lifeguards for the summer season.

Complete training is provided through CRC's American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Classes. There is only one more class before the pools open for the season, and it starts on Friday.

The next lifeguard training class is Tuesday, June 4 through Saturday June 8. Class runs 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each of the five days. Another class begins Tuesday, June 11 through Saturday, June 15.

Lifeguards are required to be age 15 or older and will start earning $8.31 per hour. Previous lifeguard experience counts toward higher pay rates – up to $9.69 per hour.

CRC lifeguards must meet a variety of swimming requirements including a 300 yard swim using freestyle and breaststroke.

Visit the Aquatics & Pools section of CRC's website, www.cincyrec.org, or call (513) 357-POOL (7665) for more information.
