Two people dead following Aiken County house fire

UPDATE:

The investigation continues today into an Aiken house fire. Investigators say the cause of that fire Saturday is suspicious.

Coroner Tim Carlton said 28-year-old Dunkan Baker's 2-year-old daughter died at the scene of the fire.  Baker died several hours later at the hospital. Autopsies were performed Sunday.

Investigators are still trying to figure out how the suspicious fire started. We'll have more on the investigation as information is released.

ORIGINAL STORY:

Two people are dead following a Saturday morning house fire in Aiken County.

Crews were dispatched just after 10am after receiving calls about a home on fire at 331 Old Tory Trail in Montmorenci, SC.

The Montmorenci Fire Department, EMS, and Aiken County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene  and rushed Dunkan Baker to Doctors Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3pm.

After the fire was extinguished, Baker's two-year-old daughter was found dead inside the home.

Both victims died as a result of burn injuries and smoke inhalation.

The Aiken County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating the incident as an arson.
