Corps of Engineers commander makes final visit to J Strom Thurmond Lake

Posted: Updated:

Colonel Jeffrey Hall made his last visit to J Strom Thurmond Lake before his tenure ends in July. Col. Hall reported the lake level is at almost at 3 1/2 feet, which is about two feet below full pool, which is good for visitors starting to come out for the season.

"Now with the higher lake levels, people will have more opportunities to recreate," Col. Hall said. "It's more surface area for them to operate their boats. They can water ski, they can fish."

Col. Hall says this is the highest the lake levels have been in the past five years. He credits mother nature for an increase of rainfall.
