Judge sets September trial date for Flavor Flav

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) -

A judge set a September trial date Tuesday for musician and actor Flavor Flav in connection with his arrest last year.

Flav, whose real name is William Drayton, was charged with assault with a deadly weapon and domestic violence on Oct. 17, 2012, after police said he chased his fiancee's son around with a knife while threatening his life.

According to investigators from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, Drayton and his fiancee got into a fight and when her 17-year-old son tried to intervene, Drayton and the teen struggled. They said Drayton eventually grabbed two knives, chased the teen with the weapons and threatened to kill him. They said that when the teen tried to lock himself inside a room, Drayton kicked down the door and continued the threats.

Drayton denied chasing or threatening the boy, investigators said.

On Tuesday, Drayton pleaded not guilty to the charges. His trial date was set for Sept. 30.
