Salvation Army needs 10-12 more cars for auto auction

Posted: Updated:

The Salvation Army is almost at their goal of collecting 30 cars for their auto auction coming up in June. The organization needs 10 to 12 more cars to meet their quota.

Last year their three auto auctions raised $75,000 selling more than 50 cars and eight boats. All proceeds from the auto auction go toward the Salvation Army's Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Program.

"This is a free, nine-month, residential program that we offer," said Shirley Suarez, auto auction coordinator. "We had 16 graduates last year. It really changes lives. So that's why we say: donate a car, save a life; buy a car, save a life."

The Salvation Army asks that anyone wanting to donate a used vehicle call the auction coordinator at 706.826.7933. This year, each person who donates a vehicle will receive a free, 3-month Individual Gold Membership to The Salvation Army Kroc Center. Donations are tax-deductible and free pick up is available. Vehicles do not have to be running to be donated. Please call or visit for more information.
