Police: Driver found dead in Ottawa River

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

A driver allegedly involved in a hit and run accident was found dead early Sunday morning.

According to police, it happened around 1 a.m., at Berdan Avenue and Jeep Parkway.

The driver was seen by several witnesses driving recklessly at a high rate of speed on I-75 Northbound.

When the driver tried to get off of the interstate at Berdan Avenue, he struck a concrete island, then a bridge guardrail in the process.

Police say he was ejected from the vehicle and into the Ottawa River.

The driver, later identified as 25-year-old Christopher M. Solis of Toledo, was found in the Ottawa River by divers. Police say he died from his injuries in the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
