Richmond County shooting suspect turns himself in

Jabali Jerome Howard has turned himself in to the Richmond County Sheriff's Office without incident.

Howard has been charged with one count of Murder, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.

This is Richmond County's third murder of 2013.

Original Story:

Courtney Bell, 23, died after being shot in a motel on Gordon Highway early Tuesday morning.

Richmond County investigators believe 29-year-old Jabali Howard shot Bell.

They're searching for him right now; he's considered armed and dangerous.

Bell was shot one time at the Red Carpet Inn. She was rushed to Georgia Regents University, she died after 14 hours of medical treatment.

Howard is wanted for murder and possession of a firearm during a crime.

Records from the Georgia Department of Corrections show that in 2010 Howard was sentenced to five years in prison for cruelty to children. He was also sentenced to one year in prison for simple battery and one year for obstruction of a law enforcement officer. He was released in 2011.

If you know where Howard is, deputies ask that you call the Sheriff's Office at 706-821-1080.
