Two Springfield men arrested after fleeing from police with firearm

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Two men were arrested in Springfield on Friday evening after fleeing from police with a firearm.

According to State Police, troopers attempted to stop the two suspects who were driving a 1995 Brown Lexus without an inspection sticker.

Police say as the vehicle was coming to a stop, the passenger, 20-year-old Lashar Lewis jumped out and fled on foot.

Police say as Lewis jumped out, troopers observed a black handgun fall out of the vehicle on to the ground as the vehicle sped away.

After a brief foot chase, police say troopers arrested Lewis and took him to the state police barracks in Springfield where he faces multiple charges including disorderly conduct and resisting arrest.

Police say the brown Lexus was later found parked with no one inside.  Officers searched the car and found it belonged to 22-year-old Demetrius Moore.

Police found Moore at his home, placed him under arrest where he faces many charges including failure to stop for police and no inspection sticker.

Both Moore and Lewis were transported to the State police barracks in Springfield.

Police say the handgun was identified as a loaded Lorcin .380 caliber.
