Columbia County, GA (WFXG) -

Two men are jailed following an overnight armed robbery in Columbia County.

Deputies responded to the Circle K at Belair Road and Old Belair Road around 1:40am as the store clerk was calling 911.

As other deputies were en route, the suspects' vehicle was spotted driving northbound on Belair Road with no tags. There was a brief pursuit, which ended on Casa Linda Drive after deputies deployed spike strips.

The driver of the vehicle, Evan Ramsey, was taken into custody without incident. The passenger, James Gibbons, fled but was later found by K9 hiding under a nearby porch.

The handgun allegedly used in the robbery, as well as cash from the robbery, were found in the passenger floorboard of the vehicle.

That vehicle, a Honda Civic, was reported stolen in North Augusta on April 19.

Gibbons is charged with Armed Robbery; Possession of a Weapon During Commission of a Crime; and Theft By Receiving Stolen Property.

Ramsey is charged with Armed Robbery; Theft By Receiving; Driving Without a License; Reckless Driving; and Fleeing and Attempting to Elude.
