GRANITEVILLE, SC (WFXG) -

The third annual Junior Invitational at Sage Valley Golf Club kicked off its first round on Friday. The prestigious tournament falls on the heels of the Masters, bringing more than 50 junior golfers from all over the world to the CSRA. Once again people are flocking to a region that some are beginning to call the ‘golf Mecca.'

"I think the local community definitely knows what golf is all about in this area and of course to give them an excuse to come out and watch good golf," said Tom Wyatt, Tournament Chairman and President of Sage Valley Golf Club. "[It] doesn't matter what level you are on even if it's just juniors."

The talent seen on the course from these players is nothing to undermine, being asked to be a part of the Junior Invitational is one of the most prestigious invitations for young golfers.

"It means a lot," said Greyson Sigg of Augusta. "[It] just kind of builds my confidence knowing that I am invited to one of the best junior golf tournaments in the world with the 54 best in the world too."

Spectators could be found following their favorite players. Last year's winner Zachary Olsen is playing again this year. He said he is glad to be back but things are not going as smoothly this time around.

"Two solid rounds, you know obviously I shot myself pretty far out of the tournament so just try to shoot some good rounds and gain some confidence," said Olsen.

54 players all trying to gain some confidence and a new title come the final round.

"I am hoping to have that jacket on Sunday but we will see how that goes if I keep playing the way I am, I think I have a pretty good shot," said Sigg.

Having a shot at the Junior Invitational jacket is a step closer to one day having a shot at the infamous green jacket
