GUNTERSVILLE, AL (WAFF) -

Police recovered a body from Lake Guntersville. Marshall County Coroner Marlon Killion said the body was found Tuesday afternoon by members of the Guntersville Rescue Squad.

Killion said the body was found at the edge of the water, about a half-mile from the bridge, in the Warrenton area.

According to the coroner the body has not been identified and expects that process to take a couple of weeks. They are waiting for dental records believed to be that of a man last seen jumping from a bridge over the Tennessee River during a January police chase.

Authorities said 20-year-old Deonta Markey Griffin had bailed out of his car during the Jan. 5 chase, then plunged into the water from the Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Killion said the search for Griffin continued for several days after he was seen jumping off the bridge, but eventually those searches were scaled back.
