Dump truck crashes into home

GREEN TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A Green Township home is expected to be a total loss after a dump truck crashed into it.

It happened just after 9 a.m. near the intersection of Boomer Road and Reemelin Road.

Investigators say a CSI dump truck driver, identified as Michael Schneider, 33, was headed westbound on Boomer Rd when he lost control going down a hill near a bend at Reemelin Road.

Schneider hit a utility pole before crashing into the nearby house, located in the 5000 block of Reemelin.

The homeowner, Patricia Grow, 57, was inside the home at the time and was trapped under debris following the crash. She was not seriously injured.

Authorities say Schneider had to be extricated from the truck after a portion of the house collapsed. He suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital as a precaution.

Investigators believe the home is a total loss. The building department was called to the scene, as well as Duke Energy crews due to downed power lines.

Schneider was cited for failing to maintain reasonable control of his vehicle.

Drugs and/or alcohol are not believe to be a factor in the crash.
