FBI testing "suspicious" Augusta letter

According to the FBI Atlanta office, initial tests to an Augusta inmate's letter believed to have a suspicious substance have come back negative for harmful substances.

They have sent the letter to a lab for further testing.

The FBI doesn't believe the letter contained anything threatening.

Previous story:

The Richmond County Sheriff's Office and the Marshal's Office are working a suspicious package at the Judicial Center in downtown Augusta.

There is very little information being released at this time. What we do know is the team went into the building around 11am and a suspicious package is now in custody of the US Marshal's Service.
