LIBERTY TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

Students at Lakota East High School attempted to break a world record, while supporting spina bifida research.

The plans have been in the making for months, organized by Lakota East's National Honor Society.

The event combines lip synching with audio dubbing to create one big music video, while also raising awareness and funding for the Center for Spina Bifida Care at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.

To break the record, 1,700 people need to appear in the final video.

A helicopter was on site to record all the aerial shots, including special guests University of Cincinnati President Santa Ono and patients from the Spina Bifida Coalition of Cincinnati.

District-wide, the lip dub has already raised more than $10,000 for the cause.
