TEMPE, AZ (CBS5) -
Tempe police said a Valley criminal attorney is in custody in connection with a shooting Thursday morning that wounded his girlfriend's former boyfriend.
Joseph Palmisano, 48, was booked into jail on one count of attempted murder, one count of kidnapping and one count of aggravated assault, based on evidence and statements, police investigators said.
The victim, Ryan Hall, 25, was awake and talking to paramedics at 4600 S. Lakeshore Dr., in the area of Baseline and Rural roads, said Tempe police spokeswoman Molly Enright.
She said the shooting happened around 8:30 a.m. and police secured and placed nearby schools on lockdown. The lockdowns at Arredondo School, New Horizon, Sunrise Preschool and Compadre North High School were lifted around 9:30 a.m.
Palmisano and Hall knew each other, police said. Palmisano worked in the building and was apparently involved in a relationship with the victim's former girlfriend, according to officers.
Palmisano and Hall met in the parking lot and at some point the conversation escalated into an altercation, ending with Palmisano allegedly shooting the victim, according to Tempe police.
No one else was injured during the incident.
