Predator Alert: Teen girl approached by male suspect

TOLEDO, OH (Toledo News Now) -

Police are investigating an alleged incident of criminal child enticement that occurred around 9:50 a.m. Wednesday near St. Aubin and Westhaven streets in south Toledo.

According to the 15-year-old girl, a man in a red, four-door 2005 Ford Taurus drove up by her, got out of his vehicle and approached her. He then asked for her age and the location of Airport Highway. Scared, the girl ran back to her home. However, once she got home, she saw the suspect vehicle drive by her house several times before disappearing.

"I think we need to educate our kids a little more on what to do when they are approached," said Michelle Popoff, who works for Toledo Schools. "I don't care if they have to start running and yell 911 - anything to deter these people away from them."

Anyone with more information on the incident is urged to call CrimeStoppers at 419-255-1111 or the Investigative Services Section at 419-245-3142.
