DANBURY TOWNSHIP, OH (Toledo News Now) -

The Toledo bomb squad was called to an Ottawa County home after the discovery of three safes labeled "explosives."

The report came from a home on Applewood Drive in Danbury Township.

Police say Daniel Reep, 63, has been arrested for violating probation. He did not show up for a recent meeting with his probation officer, so police went to his home to find him.

More charges could be pending.

After investigating, the bomb squad decided there was no threat with the safes. They contained costume jewelry and papers. According to police, Reep wrote "explosives" on the safes as a deterrent to thieves.

No evacuations took place, but the Danbury Township Police made calls to residents within one mile of the area. Danbury students that live in the area stayed at school during the investigation.

Residents in the area said this is not normal for their community.

"I think it's insane. It's pretty crazy, [this is] a small community, and just knowing someone lives this close to you is kind of nerve racking," said neighbor Thomas Clifton.
