Old grenade found in Millbrook neighborhood

MILLBROOK, AL (WSFA) -

The Montgomery Police Department Bomb Squad was called in to dispose of an old, active grenade found in a Millbrook neighborhood.

It happened Tuesday evening on Gardenia Road.  Millbrook Police were called after someone found what was described as a military ordinance in a yard. Officers closed off the road and ordered residents to stay inside their homes and away from windows.

"It's kind of scary, especially considering what's been going on around the country the past few days," said Mike Litezelman, who lives near where the grenade was found. "You don't want to have anything going on in your neighborhood."

Police did not think anyone was in any danger, but made the decision to close off the road as a precaution.
