Look familiar? Potholes like this can be seen all over Mid-Michigan.
Wise Road in Shepherd
BAY CITY, MI (WNEM) -
All the recent rain Mid-Michigan has had lately, coupled with roller coaster temperatures, have created huge potholes across our state.
Those teeth-chattering potholes have people talking in Mid-Michigan, and not in a good way.
"The front end of my truck has taken a beating," said Steven Beson, a Bay City resident.
Beson owns a grocery store in town and told TV5 customers regularly regale him with stories about gaping potholes around the Banks neighborhood.
He passed along a personal experience.
"Well, I crossed the road to go to the body shop across the road over at C.J.'s, and it looked like just a little bird bath there, and I stepped in it and it went well over my ankle."
The owner of the body shop where Beson took his truck to get repaired after it was damaged by the potholes also weighed in on the situation.
"They're pretty bad, I wish they'd do a lot more road work than they've been doing, it's bad when you can't even drive down the road without knocking the spring out of your car," said C.J. Cunningham, auto repair shop owner.
TV5's Facebook friends agree, telling us that in Genesee County, Farrand Road between Linden and the expressway overpass is a mess, along with Kelly Road between Elms and Linden.
In Saginaw County, Mackinaw Road in front of Arthur Hill High School is on the pothole wall of shame.
In Bay County Flajole Road between U.S. 10 and Salzburg in Williams Township and Trumbull Avenue in Bay City also made the list. And they represent the tip of the iceberg.
According to the Michigan Department of Transportation, a pothole is typically fixed by cleaning out loose debris and filling it with a hot and cold asphalt patch. Wary drivers just want road crews to get rid of the problem, and soon.
"We've just gotta attack 'em a little more often," said Beson.
