One man is dead after a standoff in Chandler Monday morning.
The Chandler Police Department said a man was dragged outside of an apartment about 10:30 a.m. near Fairview Street and Palm Lane, and then the person who dragged him returned to the apartment and slammed the door as officers approached him.
The victim has been identified as 52-year-old Jose Leon Vasquez. He was taken to the hospital, where he died.
Police are calling it a suspicious death at this point and are awaiting the exact cause of death from the medical examiner.
Police took the man inside the home into custody on Monday and later released him. Chandler police said he's not a suspect at this time and is not a threat to the community. Police said that it appears he didn't come outside when police first contacted him because he was intoxicated and may not have understood that officers were trying to get him to come outside.
