PHOENIX (AP) -

The Arizona Supreme Court rules Monday in the automatic appeal of a now 33-year-old man sentenced to death on murder convictions for killing three people, including his grandmother and an uncle.

Kevin Boyston was convicted of three counts of first-degree murder and two of attempted first-degree murder for a February 2004 rampage in Phoenix that followed an argument with family members the evening before.

The rampage began with the shooting of Boyston's girlfriend. She survived but was paralyzed from the waist down.

The grandmother and uncle were then fatally shot in a nearby apartment, followed by the wounding of another relative who survived. A friend of the slain uncle was the final victim. He was fatally stabbed.

A Maricopa county Superior Court jury sentenced Boyston to death for the murders.
